Guest Blogger Red-Icculus at Reggae Rising!

This has been a crazy week for General Hydroponics. Last week we rocked the trade show, and this week the team is heading to Reggae Rising. But I won’t be there! Instead, Red-Icculus will be guest blogging for GH!
Red-Icculus should be known to our readers as one of our power users. He, reader Ragnar, and [...]

Red Sunflowers

I love the yellow pollen against the black and red. This bad boy is 10ft tall.

Flowers made of tiny flowers

Don’t these look like each blossom is made of a million tiny blossoms? Each of these shots were taken at GH.

GH Customer Appreciation Party at the SF Trade Show

To thank retailers, GH rented the FireHouse, a great old building adjacent to the trade show floor at the Ft. Mason Center, San Francisco. A bbq raged and drinks flowed freely. Super colorful banners hung on the walls and the view of Alcatraz was amazing.

Trade Show Photos

Wow, the trade show was last weekend, Reggae is this weekend. My head is spinning. Here are some shots from the tradeshow floor.
The event is held right on the water in the San Francisco Bay. You can tell you are getting close when you see the first stretch Hummer.

The entire place is massive. This year [...]

Air Scrubbers In Space!

So, outerspace and hydroponics just go together. Our nutes have even been used by astronauts in space! I read this article about scrubbers on the space station, and thought I would share.

Canna Flowers

Canna is a lovely tropical flower with a simple and pretty flower. In our greenhouse they flourish, and one is almost 12 feet tall.

Macro Echinacea

This Echinacea is thriving outdoors here at GH. The most comon coneflower is purple, but this hybrid has creamy beige petals.

From Wikipedia:
Echinacea (pronounced /ˌɛkɨˈneɪʃ(iː)ə/)[1] is a genus of nine species of herbaceous plants in the family Asteraceae commonly called Coneflower. All are strictly native to eastern and central North America. The plants have large, showy heads of composite flowers, blooming from early [...]

Out of Control Tomatoes

These things are insane!

Growing Hops at General Hydroponics

There’s two greenhouses that I mention regularly on the blog. Our smaller test greenhouse, and our massive ornamental greenhouse. But there is also a third greenhouse! And right now it is filled with hops. Beautiful, thriving, sweetly scented hops. They are in a very small space, in WaterFarms. The roof panel of the greenhouse had [...]

Want some Press? Visit me at the SF Trade Show!

This weekend, as you might well know, is the San Francisco Indoor Gardening Trade Show. Last year I went to the show and was overwhelmed with inspiration. In fact, that visit was the catalyst for this blog.
This year, I will be there, with the majority of our team. And I hope to meet as many [...]

Tons of Beautiful Orange Flowers in the Greenhouse

These trays look so lush, and all the shades of orange are really very striking.

Hydro stores on Twitter

I’m hoping to find more hydro stores to follow on Twitter. Especially ones like bghydro.com. Better Grow is a great online shop, with a fully comprehensive website. They re-tweeted our organics feed chart, and that made me happy!
Do you have any favorite shops that use Twitter? Let me know! And follow us too!
