FloraNova, What does it do?
At General Hydroponics, we like to say that we bring nature and technology together. FloraNova is a perfect example of how we achieve that by engineering advanced nutrient systems. GH created the standard over thirty years ago when it introduced the now famous FloraSeries three-part. FloraSeries quickly came to be known as easy to use, but its simplicity was finally eclipsed by the introduction of FloraNova, the first one-part hydroponic nutrient ever developed.

The formula is revolutionary. There are ingredients in the FloraSeries three-part nutrient line that cannot be together in the same bottle. The molecules of those ingredients “fight” and will drop out of solution, and then can’t be up-taken by the plant. So they are kept separate, until they are added in order to the water in a resevoir. FloraNova solved that problem. Every mineral and micro nutrient needed for a plant’s life cycle is mixed in one bottle, including humic acids.
Here are the top reasons growers love FloraNova:
Nova is a hybrid combining the most sophisticated mineral content with organic compounds.
Nova is perfect for beginners. Its recipe is beyond simple. First use the grow formula, then transition the plant to the bloom formula.
It is pH stabilized.
Nova is very, very concentrated. A little bit goes a long way, in hydro systems, soil-less medias, or dirt.
Nova gives great results. Plants thrive without much effort because it supplies complete and optimal plant nutrition.

How do you use Flora Nova grow in soil? In what ratio’s to water? Feed one week and pure water the next week?

Follow the drain to waste program feed chart, or go with this number to be certain it’s foolproof: 1tsp per gallon. You can also use anywhere between 3 and 8 mls per gallon, depending on how aggressively you want to grow. As for when, try this as your weekly routine: feed- feed- water- feed- feed- water….. and so on.

I have a question, am I not supposed to ph my water prior to adding these nutes? Ive used this line along with many of the supplements and all was fine using plain tap water ph of 7.5 give or take never lower than 7 tho, the plants never experienced problems and that was in ebb and flow. I just reciently started using ph down to bring my water to 5.8 befofe adding nutes ( I also use coco coir now instead) now I have problems, first they look defficent then I up the feed and they burn, am I not supposed to ph the water? that seems odd to me. any help please?

BTW, its not the coir, I used coir before without ph altering and no problems, problems started when I used ph down, dosent matter if its soil, coir, or what when I change the ph things go downhill, my meter is spot on so its not that either, Ive heard the organic line dosent require ph change but is that the case with floranova line too?

I quit using Flora Nova after it gummed up my water pumps so bad they had to be replaced. In my opinion, the amount of residue this product contains is totally unacceptable. It increases the routine maintenance time at virtually every turn.

FloraNova is a very unique product, it is a liquid single part nutrient. There is a reason many nutrients are split into two or three parts, to separate out the micro nutrients and keep everything in a thinner, hydroponic ready, solution. The unique properties of FloraNova allow us to mix everything in one container, using less than 10% water, and keep it in solution. This creates an easy to use, single part nutrient.
At General Hydroponics we make a number of different base nutrients to suit different consumer needs and applications. For a system with sensitive pumps you may want to consider a thinner nutrient such as FloraDuo or Flora Series. These may not be as simple as FloraNova, but they should suit your needs as they are designed to be used in a hydroponic system with more sensitive pumps. If one is determined to use FloraNova due to it’s simplicity and excellent properties, I can recommend a type of filter known as a ‘disc filter’ which can be put in-line before the nutrient reaches the pump and can filter out any solids that might damage your pump.
In short, there are many different base nutrient options, and it is up to the consumer to choose the nutrient that will work best for them, in their specific system. We are always happy to help you sort out what might be the best choice for you. Just contact us.
